In 2014, CEB generated a total of 30.6 GWh of electricity to meet the island’s demand. Electricity is mainly generated from diesel and heavy fuel oil – around 90 % of the total supply. The rest is produced by wind farms. The CEB Integrated Electricity Plan 2013–2022 forecasts that demand for electricity will reach 32.6 GWh by 2022 with infrastructural developments in the seaport and the introduction of the fibre optic cable.
